Jonathan Bailey Hangs Out with Elmo on Sesame Street
Yes, our beloved out gay British prince of charisma wandered into the most wholesome neighborhood on television, and the internet (and my heart) has not recovered.
Jonathan Bailey + Elmo = The Softest Crossover in History
One video shows Jonathan sitting peacefully on a park bench on Sesame Street—looking like the world’s sweetest future dad—when Elmo, literal icon, toddles over to ask (very politely, as is his brand) to join Mr. Bailey and asks what he’s doing.
Without missing a beat and looking like the embodiment of mindfulness, Bailey replies:
“I’m just taking a moment for myself.”
And then—brace yourself—Elmo sits beside him so they can “take a moment” together.
I melted. I puddled. I evaporated into a gay rainbow mist.
In between the chaos of life, it felt like Bailey and Elmo delivered a soft, gentle PSA for adults everywhere:
Take a breath. Slow down. Let yourself be human.
And because I am who I am, my brain immediately thought: “Oh he is DEFINITELY going to be the world’s sweetest uncle someday… or dad, perhaps?” The way he radiates kindness, calm, and warmth—those are not just acting skills. That’s main-character energy in the family-man cinematic universe.
Elmo Update: He Is Now Talented, Booked, and Busy
Since Elmo refuses to brag, let me do it for him:
He can ride a bike!
He can spell his first AND last name!
He just had a moment of meditation with Jonathan Bailey, so basically he has ascended to Muppet enlightenment.
Just… please don’t put him on the spot. He gets shy. We respect that.
Then Bailey Pulled Out the Dance Moves—Bert Was SHOOK
In another clip, Bailey joins Ernie and Bert, and let me say: Bert was not emotionally prepared.
Bailey rolls in with full theater-kid confidence, announcing:
“We’re dancing through life, Bert!”
Bert—sweet, lovable, perpetually stressed Bert—responds with the greatest line of 2025:
“You’ve got some WICKED dance moves.”
The synergy. The foreshadowing. The marketing.
Because yes, our man is currently in full promotional mode for Wicked: For Good, the epic conclusion to Jon M. Chu’s two-part adaptation. Bailey stars as Fiyero, alongside Cynthia Erivo (Elphaba), Ariana Grande (Glinda), Jeff Goldblum, Michelle Yeoh, Colman Domingo, Bowen Yang, Ethan Slater, Peter Dinklage, and more.
The film hits theaters November 21, but honestly? Sesame Street may have just become the real press tour moment.
Bailey Is Taking a Pause—And Giving Back in a Major Way
Even though he’s been busy filming, promoting, singing, dancing, dazzling, and generally blessing our feeds, Bailey revealed something deeply personal:
after three years of constant work, he’s stepping back next year.
Why? To focus on The Shameless Fund, a charitable initiative that means everything to him. He explained:
“With everything happening in the world right now, I’m going to stop acting for a bit and just focus on the Shameless Fund.”
Not for a photo op. Not for PR points. He’s serious. He wants the organization staffed with “the right people” and wants to confront one very disturbing reality:
Out of every £100 raised in the UK, only 1p goes to LGBTQ+ causes. One. Penny. Bailey is done accepting that. He wants to change it—and he’s rolling up his sleeves.

Give Yourself a Moment (Elmo Approved)
Before you log off to rewatch Bailey’s Sesame Street clips twelve more times, remember the gentle wisdom he left us with:
“Give yourself a moment; a moment for whatever you need.”
Jonathan… Elmo… you inspirational kings… I hear you.
And Elmo? If the offer to sit next to you and Jonathan Bailey is still on the table—I’m already on my way.
